Tebtebba seeks to achieve its mission of building indigenous peoples' capacities to do advocacy, education, and campaign work in the national and international arenas, through the following programs:
Promote collaboration and coordination among indigenous peoples at national, regional and international processes and political arenas towards united positions and campaign strategies
Engage governments, multilateral bodies and civil society to understand, support and adopt indigenous peoples' positions and perspectives in the areas of sustainable development, indigenous peoples' rights, gender, trade and globalization
Create mechanisms for indigenous initiatives on conflict transformation
Provide administrative and secretariat functions for indigenous initiatives
Mobilize advocates to contribute their skills and resources in solidarity towards common goals
Promote the Indigenous Peoples' Global Research and Education Network (IPGREN)
Undertake participatory action researches on:
Indigenous peoples and sustainable development
Conflict transformation, peace building and governance
Policies of international financial institutions, intergovernmental organizations and donor agencies
Biological and cultural diversity and protection of indigenous knowledge
Impact of globalization on indigenous peoples
Women/Gender and development
Indigenous peoples' econonmic, political and cultural systems
Conduct education and training for indigenous peoples
Build organizational and insitutional capacities of indigenous peoples for policy advocacy, research and education
Extend assistance and services to indigenous peoples' organizations, NGOs and communities
Articulate indigenous peoples' aspirations from varied perspectives and vantage points
Popularize indigenous peoples' issues and concerns through:
Indigenous Perspectives - a bi-annual journal
Tebtebba Magazine
Policy and Briefing Papers
Special Publications
Maintain the website: www.tebtebba.org and the different indigenous listserves
Ensure gender analysis of policies and gender dimension of researches
Undertake research on situations of indigenous women
Promote women's rights
Network with other indigenous women's organizations
Operate the Global Indigenous Research and Development Training Institute
Maintain a library and databank
Network with other libraries
