International Training on Social Research and Indigenous Peoples

This International Training on Social Research and Indigenous Peoples, held from 25 October - 6 November 2007 in Baguio City, Philippines, intends to enhance the capacities of indigenous peoples to do social research relevant on their areas of work in their organizations. As such, the objectives of the training are as follows:

 

 

To enhance the capacities of indigenous peoples to do research which will enable them to better articulate their issues and perspectives and reinforce their engagement with various bodies and processes locally and globally;

 

To promote indigenous perspectives on research in issues such as research ethics, indigenous peoples' self-determined development, etc.

 

To initiate the development of training modules on “Social Research and Indigenous Peoples;”

 

To strengthen and expand the current pool of indigenous researchers.

The research training is organized by Tebtebba (Indigenous Peoples' International Centre for Policy Research and Education) in cooperation with the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI), College of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines Baguio.
