Established in 1990 within the United States, IEN was formed by grassroots Indigenous peoples and individuals to address environmental and economic justice issues (EJ). IEN's activities include building the capacity of Indigenous communities and tribal governments to develop mechanisms to protect our sacred sites, land, water, air, natural resources, health of both our people and all living things, and to build economically sustainable communities.

7   Link   Indigenous Information Network (IIN)
Indigenous Information Network (IIN) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering indigenous peoples in Kenya, Africa and worldwide. Based in Nairobi, it was founded in 1996 by a group of indigenous professionals in response to the lack of groups and services addressing the needs of indigenous peoples. IIN works to promote knowledge of the rich cultures and lifestyles of indigenous peoples, and the challenges they face in protecting their rights and livelihoods. The underlying issue that prompted the founding of IIN was the exclusion of indigenous and minority peoples from the mainstream development agenda.

RAIPON was created in 1990 at the First Congress of Indigenous Peoples of the North. The Association was originally called the "Association of Peoples of the North of the USSR" and united 26 indigenous groups of the North. On November 24, 1993 the Association was registered as public political movement “Association of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and Far East of Russian Federation” and on July, 1999 it was reregistered at the RF Ministry of Justice as All-Russia public organization and received the registration number 2174.

The Saami Council is a voluntary Saami organization (a non–governmental organization), with Saami member organizations in Finland, Russia, Norway and Sweden. Since its foundation in 1956 the Saami Council has actively dealt with Saami policy tasks. For this reason the Saami Council is one of the indigenous peoples’ organizations which have existed longest.

Founded in 1977 by the late Eben Hopson of Barrow, Alaska, the Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) has flourished and grown into a major international non-government organization representing approximately 150,000 Inuit of Alaska, Canada, Greenland, and Chukotka (Russia). The organization holds Consultative Status II at the United Nations.

11   Link   Borneo Resources Institute Malaysia Sarawak
BRIMAS (Borneo Resources Institute Malaysia Sarawak) is a foremost indigenous non-profit organisation working at the grass roots level in Sarawak. In July of 1993, Borneo Resources Institute was formally established. BRIMAS was formed in response to the appalling situation faced by the indigenous Dayak communities and concerns about their native customary rights, resources, environment and development taking place on their traditional lands.

12   Link   PACOS-Trust
PACOS TRUST (PACOS) is a community based voluntary organisation registered under the Trustees Ordinance Chapter 148, Sabah, Malaysia to help raise the quality of life of indigenous communities. Although PACOS has only been registered with the ordinance in 1997, it has been actively involved with communities since 1987 as a different legal entity. A central management committee which comprises of each program coordinators and several individuals carries out the management of PACOS. Financial contributions from members, individuals and international funding agencies, sustain most of PACOS' activities.

The Indigenous Peoples of Africa Co-ordinating Committee (IPACC) is a network of 150 indigenous peoples' organisations in 20 African countries. IPACC's purpose is to unite diverse community based indigenous peoples' organisations into a network and alliance for effective advocacy. IPACC's elected Executive Committee is dedicated to the co-ordination of advocacy strategy and activities which promote the rights and voices of indigenous peoples at national, sub-regional, African and international levels.

Since its formation in 1986, CONAIE has led the indigenous peoples of Ecuador from relative isolation to a position at center stage of Ecuadorian society. CONAIE is the representative body that guarantees indigenous people the political voice that has too long been denied them, and that expresses their needs and goals within a rapidly changing world.

COIAB, the Coordination of the Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon, is one of the largest and most respected indigenous coalitions in the entire Amazon Basin. FENOCIN (Federación Nacional de Organizaciones Campesinas Indígenas y Negras or National Federation of Indigenous, Peasant, and Black Organizations) defines itself as a multi-ethnic peasant-Indigenous organization constituted by local and regional unions throughout Ecuador. More than 1250 base organizations make up FENOCIN. They have worked intensely for the acquisition of land, water, agricultural credit and also for the full recognition of the political, social, and economic rights of the poorest sectors of the rural Ecuador population.
